Lage
Obersendling - near subway Obersendling is located on the southern outskirts of Munich, west of the Isar River. The district extends from the S-Bahn line (Thalkirchen) in the east to Südpark in the west (Forstenried). The northern border runs to the borough of Sendling-Westpark. In the south, the district borders Solln. Originally, the district belonged to Thalkirchen and was incorporated into Munich on January 1, 1900. After the Second World War, Obersendling experienced rapid economic development. The main trigger here was the concentration of Siemens locations around Hofmannstrasse. Also in Obersendling, northwest of the factory site, is the Siemens housing estate on Boschetsrieder Strasse. Worth mentioning are the two Siemens star skyscrapers, the first high-rise buildings of their kind to be built in Munich after the war. Siemens AG gave up the Hofmannstrasse location at the turn of the millennium and sold the site. The new urban quarter with around 2000 residents and 1000 jobs around a central park was completed in 2013. Other parts of the former Siemens site are being developed with a further 1000 or so apartments, and the Siemens high-rise is being converted into around 300 apartments. Special mention should be made of the Flaucher, this is a large green area with woods and meadows as well as playgrounds and the popular beer garden "Zum Flaucher". It is located on the western bank of the river and extends from the combined heat and power plant at Brudermühlbrücke out of town to Thalkirchen. Students and families barbecue on the banks, children romp around in the water, and on nice days it's not at all easy to find a free spot on the stony beach. + approx. 200 m to the subway U3 "Machtlfinger Straße + approx. 50 m to the bus 51 "Geisenhausenerstraße + approx. 10 minutes walk to the Flaucher + approx. 5 minutes walk to the Südpark + good connection to the Mittlerer Ring + various schools and day care centers in Sendling + stores for daily needs in the immediate vicinity
